Shortcut Virus is a type of virus which hide the original files and replace them with a shortcut files. This is a type of malware which creates identical shortcut file and folders of all data present in an affected drive. How to Remove Shortcut Virus From USB Drive

If your drive get infected with shortcut virus and if your drive doesn’t have any important files then you can simply format your drive to delete shortcut virus. But formatting is not a solution, to cleanup shortcut virus without formatting just follow the below mentioned steps:

Step 1. First of all, go to start and search for cmd, right click on cmd and click on “Run as Administrator“.

Step 2. Now, go to infected drive by typing its drive letter. [ Let’s say it is i], to find your USB drive letter open “This PC” and check for letter, type i: and hit Enter.

Step 3. Type “del *.Ink” (without quote) in cmd window and Hit Enter on your Keyboard.

Step 4. Now type “attrib -s -r -h *.* /s /d /l” (without qoute) and hit Enter.

Step 5. This will take few seconds to recover all your files. Once it is done, you can open your Flash Drive and you will get all of your files back .

After recovering your USB Drive you can use it normally as before get infected but if you plug in your USB Drive into infected computer then your drive will again get infected. How to Remove Shortcut Virus From Computer

To remove shortcut virus from computer/laptop follow these instructions.

Step 1. First of all, open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del together or right click on the taskbar and click on Task Manager.

Step 2. Now, go to Process tab and look for process Wscript.exe, Scroll down and find that process. Right Click on it and click on End Task.

Step 3. After that, go to start and search for “regedit“, open it you will get Registry Editor. Now to go

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

Here search for Registry Key “odwcamszas” and delete this registry key. If you don’t find exact registry key then search for similar kind of registry keys and search them on google to know what they do. Step 4. After deleting that registry key, shortcut virus get removed from your computer. If not then try these steps.

Press Windows + R key together to open Run box, now type %temp% there and click OK. A temp folder will open, search for nkvasyoxww.vbs file and delete it.
Go to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. Check Startup folder if nkvasyoxww.vbs exist here then delete it.
Press Window + R key, type “msconfig” into Run box and click OK, it will open System Configuration, Go to Startup tab, and look for nkvasyoxww.vbs uncheck it from startup and hit OK.

Note: File of VBS file may be different, just make sure you don’t have any file with any unusual name and VBS extension at the startup, registry, and temp folder.

In Windows 8, open Task Manager and go to Startup tab and disable nkvasyoxww.vbs from here.
